About the Festival

This winter, Phillip Island ignites your soul with a celebration of storytelling.

Inspiring, uplifting, entertaining, challenging and thought-provoking, no topic is off limits as Phillip Island Festival of Stories empowers a diverse group of people to tell their tales in their favourite form.

Join this year’s remarkable lineup of presenters and published authors as they take us on their journey, one book, performance, artwork, poem, song and chat at a time.

Yarns whispered through generations over thousands of years. Insights and anecdotes of local history, the foundations of our community.

A mix of facts and fiction, a shared narrative that inspires locals and visitors alike to open their ears, their eyes and their minds, sparking important conversations and stirring the storyteller in everyone.

Adventure, comedy, drama, fantasy and tragedy, this Festival has it all.

In a picture-perfect setting, just under 2 hours from Melbourne, Phillip Island is home to 101km2 of unforgettable moments with natural wonders, wildlife and local food and wine experiences ready to transform into stories of their own.

Presented by The Island Story Gatherers Inc, Phillip Island Festival of Stories is one of Victoria’s premium boutique cultural events. A place to be inspired, challenged and entertained.

Everyone has a story. Make Phillip Island Festival of Stories part of yours.

About The Island Story Gatherers Inc.

The Island Story Gatherers Inc is a volunteer community organisation that believes ‘Everyone Has A Story’ and wish to provide a platform for these stories to be presented.

We believe that storytelling is embedded in and strengthens all cultures and we aim to strengthen community through encouraging, challenging and inspiring residents and visitors to listen to and tell stories.

We endeavour to celebrate all forms of storytelling; including songs, comedy, visual art, local history stories, poetry, theatre, film and published authors.

We held our inaugural Phillip Island Literary Festival in 2017 and it was a huge success. Our subsequent festivals were also exceptionally well-received and focussed on stories of survival. Artists were selected in accordance with the nominated themes of mental health, dispossession, racism, true local history, survival and the ability to overcome all odds.
