About the Festival

This winter come to Phillip Island for a celebration of storytelling.

In 2024 the Phillip Island Festival of Stories, promises a remarkable lineup of presenters and published authors, ready to take us on their personal creative journey, one book, performance, and chat at a time.

*Yarns whispered through generations over thousands of years. 

*Insights and anecdotes from local history, that have formed the foundations of our community.

*A mix of facts and fiction, and a shared narrative, that inspires locals and visitors alike, to spark important conversations and stir the storyteller in each of us.

In a picture-perfect setting, just under 2 hours from Melbourne, Phillip Island is home to 101 km2, of unforgettable moments, with natural wonders, abundant wildlife, and local food and wine experiences, ready to transform into stories of their own.

Presented by The Island Story Gatherers, Phillip Island Festival of Stories is one of Victoria’s premium boutique cultural events.

About The Island Story Gatherers Inc.

The Island Story Gatherers, is a volunteer community organisation, which aims to encourage, challenge and inspire our community of residents and visitors to take part in all forms of storytelling.  We believe that storytelling is embedded in and strengthens all cultures.

We held our inaugural Phillip Island Literary Festival in 2017 and it was a huge success. Our subsequent festivals were also well-received and focused on stories of survival. Artists were selected in accordance with the nominated themes of mental health, dispossession, racism, true local history, survival, and the ability to overcome all odds.
